Luke at 7 months
Luke is now 7+ months. Since my last entry about him, he can now go down the bed feet first. He always crawls to the edge of the bed, now at least he turns and crawls down feet first. It doesn’t do him any good so far since he can’t really walk yet. So he just stands by the bed until I pick him up and put him back.
I feel that he’s going to say mama soon. Because both Jor and I heard him on different occasions say ma-ma-gibber-gibber-gibber when he was upset. I can’t wait to hear him say it more often.
He’s had colds since around Feb 25. This is probably his first major cold – the gooey-green-mucus type. Had he not been super dooper active, I would have been worried sick about it. But it doesn’t seem to stop him from exploring. Good thing he’s sport about it because the kind of colds he has now is the type that would just make me sulk. Occasionally, he gags from too much mucus and he’d breathe from his mouth because his nose is so stuffed.
Good thing too that he likes putting stuff in his mouth. Anything is welcome and that includes medicines. At first, I gave him Disudrin since that was what the pedia in Manila recommended when he first got colds. But when I took him to the doctor here in Singapore, he immediately told me to stop using it and prescribed Zyrtec instead. I think that’s because the active ingredient in Disudrin, phenylpropanolamine, is known to have serious side effects. I just assumed those issues were already resolved because they still prescribe it in the Philippines but apparently the issue still stands.
But between Disudrin and Zyrtec, Luke responded better to Disudrin. Zyrtec just made him cranky. He was irritable the time he was on it which was frustrating for both of us. So now I just stopped giving him medication save for his regular multivitamins and just hope that his body’s defense system can overcome his colds. He’s back to his happy little self and hopefully he’ll be all well really soon.
add: I forgot to note here that he now knows how to drink using a straw.

Same here, Gavin has had the cold actually for 6 weeks na. They don’t recommend cold meds here other than saline drops and having to suction out his nose regularly. Good luck! Hope Luke feels better soon.

6 weeks?! Di kaya allergy? I hope he gets rid of it soon. Luke doesn’t want his nose touched much less suctioned. I put the saline drops when he’s asleep hehe.

Yeah, that is rough! My baby has also been getting sick a lot. Interesting to hear what meds you put him on. My baby has been having reaction to a lot of meds to which has been causing us even more problems.
