Welcome, Luke!
I’m back! And better yet I survived!
Luke’s been a very good boy even from inside my tummy. Jor’s been telling him to wait for Daddy before coming out and sure enough when Jor arrived early morning of July 22, we just took a short nap and when I woke up I was bleeding.
On my last check-up with my OB, we knew more or less I was probably going to be C-sectioned because Luke hasn’t dropped at all and my cervix is still closed. So that morning, we were actually going to the hospital to tell Doc that we’re opting for CS by request. We wanted to deliver Luke on the 23rd since Jorey is a big Jordan fan. But since I already had a bloody show, she decided to make me go through trial of labor. Now, that I think about it, I do remember she mentioned some check ups back that induced labor could be more painful than normal labor.
They stuck me with a cocktail of stuff that would ripen my cervix, force my contractions, and a pain killer that’s painful when administered. Needless to say it was torture! I was in the labor room at about 2 PM and and by 1 AM the next morning I was still 4-5 cm dilated instead of 10 cm for a normal delivery. At this point I was deliriously begging for an epidural because I was convinced the pain will make me go crazy. No amount of breathing will ease the pain. Kudos to those women who can take pain quietly like the nice girl next to me in the labor room. I was never the kind of person who could take anything quietly. I would either say my piece or cry. But they said I shouldn’t cry because the pain killers wouldn’t work (or something like that or maybe I just imagined they said that) so, yeah they heard from me alright! You’d definitely know if I was in the middle of a contraction because I went from totally silent to howling like a mad woman!
Luke came out through Ceasarian section (bikini cut
) at 1:49 AM. I was so exhausted from labor, I was knocked out during the operation. All I remember was hearing Luke cry, then hearing Doc say “Kakulay ni Daddy!” and then the next thing I knew it was around 6 AM and I was in the recovery room.
I was a little concerned that I wasn’t conscious to greet Luke when he came out and everyone saw him already except me. So by the following day, operation and all, I forced myself to start walking, be it at snail’s pace. My cut was painful especially when having to transition from standing to sitting to lying down but it was nothing compared to labor pain! Nothing! Whatever muscles I used during labor was just as painful the next day. Note to anyone: I would think this is the part where physical fitness would have helped me. My muscles probably wouldn’t have been as sore had I been fit.
I’ve started lactating 3-4 days after giving birth. And yes, breastfeeding is also painful!
But no matter how cliche it sounds, all that was worth it because Luke is just sooooo adorable. He smiles a lot in his sleep and I’ve hardly heard him cry. He took everything after his Daddy. So I now have 2 Jors, a supersized and a microsized version. Luke looks sooo tiny when Jorey is holding him.
I’ve been ravaged by a 6lb 12oz little guy. I look like a total train wreck but I’m happy.

Noee, congrats to you and Jorey! Can’t wait to see the pics. Btw, we really like the Bumgenius. We’re still using it. We started using it as soon as kasya niya. We wash every 3rd day. Regina has been using it din sa youngest niya. Super love din niya.
