For some reason, my placenta is getting too mature for baby and cannot give him all the nutrients he needs. So Luke is getting his nutrients from my amniotic fluid which is slowly running into critical level. I’ve had to get an Biophysical Profile Score (BPS) which includes an ultrasound and some kind of ECG for Luke every 2-3 days to see how well he’s doing.

He’s doing OK so far, but my OB, who wants me to get a normal delivery as much as possible now thinks I might need to go for ceasarian section. On my previous check-ups, she told me that if Luke still hasn’t dropped, I would have to undergo induced labor and see if I can still do a normal delivery. But at my most recent check-up, she now feels that induced labor would just be added misery for me since the odds of Luke coming out in a normal delivery are now slim. My cervix is apparently still closed when it should be at dilated at least 1cm by now.

Waah Ceasarian costs twice as much! But what the heck, anything for Luke. So most probably, I’m giving birth to Luke on the 23rd. We choose the 23rd because it’s Michael Jordan’s number and Jorey is a big Jordan fan. (Trivia: Jor and I met because he chose to handle block G-23, which was my freshman block in college.)

At this point I just want to see him, and know that everything about him is functioning. Note that I use functioning because “normal” is such a mediocre word. Luke’s gonna be great!
