16 weeks, Settled in and Nesting
We’re finally settled in at our new apartment. Though it’s a little smaller than the old one, and so much farther away from the city, it’s actually closer to our friends and it’s better designed.
I didn’t think we’d accumulate so much stuff in two years! We moved in with 50 boxes of stuff considering we sold our 3+2 seater and coffee table already. And even though we’ve resolved to not accumulate any more and just save money specially since it’s recession, we just couldn’t help it. We just bought a bookshelf, a kitchen trolley, a small oven, a microwave oven, and a small massager. Plus I had to buy new boots to replace the ones Jorey threw out – there’s always pressure to buy when sales peeps tell you that today is the last day of the sale. There’s even more pressure when they tell you you get additional 10% off when you buy a second pair of shoes. We had to draw the line.
I feel guilty spending this much when I should be saving up for baby stuff. It makes me nauseous.
By the way, I’m 16 weeks into my pregnancy yesterday. I look obviously pregnant now (sometimes I just look like a fat kid with a big belly) and I think I’m starting to feel some kicking down there. We just had another ultra sound scan even though the doctor said we didn’t need it. But my Dad was with us and it was a nice chance for him to get to see the baby moving so he’d get more sense out of the scan stills.
The baby’s size is right on target says the doctor. We saw big baby feet and they looked like grown-up feet. Jor swears he saw a baby pen!s. Either that or he’s wishful thinking hehe. He’s so excited to have a boy but he doesn’t want to know the gender until the baby’s out. I know, it doesn’t make sense.
It’s funny because when the doctor placed that tool that just listens to the baby’s heartbeat, Jorey suddenly burst out “It’s a boy!” which of course you can’t tell from the baby’s heartbeat. Then when we went for the ultrasound with my Dad, instead of saying “It’s a boy!” my Dad said “It’s a bird!” haha.
More than less though, I kinda also feel that it’s going to be a boy since I have more than my fair share of male hormones which is making me break out like crazy…Crazy! Plus my super sense of smell tells me I don’t smell so good these days. Though apparently I’m the only one who smell myself in that light. Whenever I ask Jor or my mom (who would definitely tell me as it is) if I stink, they tell me they don’t smell anything. I guess that’s a good thing. That so called pregnancy glow doesn’t seem to apply to my pregnancy. But then again, my parents thought I was a boy until I came out… a girl. So when I was a baby, all my stuff were blue and my toys were tonka trucks and boy toys and they had to think of a name for me because the only name they had was Norman Lester.
It’s a little too similar to what’s happening now, coz until now we only have a boy’s name. And Jor’s as excited as my Dad was to have a boy. My mom said that when my Dad found out I was a girl, he went straight home and slept. Haha – I guess the adrenalin drained out and exhaustion kicked in. Now I’ve been warning Jor that he’s setting himself up for a 50-50 chance of disappointment. Not that they aren’t happy with a girl – just that they aren’t as happy if it were a boy.
So to everyone who’s interested in our pregnancy, just want to let you guys know that even though Jor’s hoping for a boy, he doesn’t want to know until the last minute. So if you ever find out the baby’s gender, don’t spill it to him. He probably won’t be invited to the baby shower to keep him from knowing hehe.
