Whenever we don’t have guests, Jor and I have been sleeping in the guest room because it’s cheaper to use aircon there since it’s a smaller room with a bigger bed and TV.  This is our little contribution to climate change.  I sleep on the side of the bed near the window.

We were supposed to go to the driving range the morning of Saturday but when I woke up it was still very dark and it was raining quite hard.

Our condo building has no other tall buildings around it so whenever it rains, it feels like you’re in the middle of a marsh during a heavy thunderstorm.  You literally hear howling winds and when you wake up to it in the dark, it’s kinda scary.

That’s basically what happened to me saturday morning.  To think I can only sleep with the lights out if I’m not alone.  I always used to sleep with the lights on because I’m scared of the dark.  But when I tried closing my eyes to get back to sleep, I can still see the lightning flashes even with the thick curtains.

So I woke Jor up and told him I couldn’t sleep because I can see the lightning flashes.  He took my hand, and reassured me “It’s alright.  Andito si Jor…. Takot din sya.” Haha that cracked me up.

*Jor is the only adult person I know who refers to himself in the third person.  (I’ve known kids to do it only because they’re still grasping the language.  Like when you ask Jorey’s nephew “Gusto mo?” He responds with “Ayaw mo.” which actually means “Ayaw ko.”  Or maybe they take after him.)  But it’s one of Jor’s  weird funny characteristics.  I used to find it weird but you get so used to it you don’t even notice it sometimes.  He’d usually say “Gutom na si Jor” or “Pagod na si Jor”.
