On Tiger Woods and Jorey’s loyalty to Nike
Tiger Woods is playing while his knee is hurting and still he is amazing!!!
One thing I learned from Wii golf playing with Jorey and Tiger Woods sure know by heart is it ain’t over till it’s over. Tiger had a poor start with a couple of bogeys and even had a double bogey on the first hole of round 3 but it never fazed him. And he still managed to get that awesome long putt for eagle in the 13th hole, his chip-in for birdie on the 17th and his eagle putt on 18th. All incredible!!!
He’s really turned golf into a spectator sport. The audience are cheering as if they were watching basketball or football. I wouldn’t be surprised is there were people coming to watch the game with their faces painted.
When asked about the pain in his knee, he just said it usually happens only after impact so he still gets into position and goes for his swing. Pain is just pain.
He is so awesome that ESPN keeps playing a clip of Tiger Woods after that amazing eagle putt on the 18th over and over.
Every endorsement penny Nike pays him is super worth it. Every shot of Tiger woods has the recognizable swoosh logo somewhere, whether it’s in his cap, shirt, vest, clubs, and even if it’s just his golf balls the cameras are shooting. Remember his shot on the 16th hole of the Masters in 2005 that’s considered to be one of, if not, the greatest shot in golf history? The ball was rolling towards the pin, the Nike logo right at the center as if it was scripted showing itself as the ball was rolling, then the ball paused for a moment, enough to give everyone a dramatic glimpse of the Nike logo just before it dropped in the cup.
The way he and Michael Jordan plays the game, pain and all, is the essence of Nike’s catch phrase “Just do it.” Simple yet it says it all.
Jorey’s been a fan of Nike ever since he got his first Nike shoes when he was still a totoy in high school (maybe younger). He was a big basketball fan and Michael Jordan was his idol (when he got into golf, Tiger Woods was his idol). And when I say fan, I mean fanatic fan. He doesn’t wear anything else but Nike to the point that he actually despises Adidas and other brands. He actually scolds me for wearing mixed brands. I used to tell him “over ka naman masyado” but now I understand where he’s coming from.
On Michael Jordan, he knows all his moves at what game of what year of a championship series or probably any great game for that matter.
He loves Nike because his favorite players (Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods) endorse it. I think Nike and Jorey have the same criteria for great players. You not just admire them for their athletic prowess but they have a mentality that’s in a league of their own. They are able to do the impossible because they can will it. That’s what Jorey admires about them. What’s great about Nike is they can spot potential and get their players before they even peak. By the time they are at the peak, they’re already associated with Nike.
Nike has great timing too. I think an example would be Kobe Bryant. He used to endorse Adidas but back then he was an immature player with a lot of ego IMHO. But if you’ve noticed Kobe’s becoming more and more like Michael Jordan. The way he moves, and even the way he talks. And who is he sponsored by? Nike, of course.
Hehe this is not a paid post by Nike just awe-inspired by greatness.

nope. this post is brought to you by Nike. Just do it.
Naalala ko pa yung kalaro ko si Jorey ng basketball, parang nakikita ko nga si Jordan sa mga galaw nya eh. Jordanesque talaga.
