Recipes
Ok so I’m thinking I should keep a journal of the recipes of the food I’ve been cooking. I’ve been asked quite a few times for my recipes on this and that but the thing is I could never give out exact measurements like hom many teaspoons of this and that. I was never the measuring type of cook. Even when I’m following a recipe I usually just look at the ingredients and don’t really take note of exactly how much of this and that. I usually just note down the proportions so at least I’d have an idea if it’s supposed to be more salty than sweet or whatevs. When it comes to cooking, I only follow one thing(/s?) – my taste buds.
I suppose there’s nothing wrong with not having measurements since they say that cooking is an art and like art you can do a Van Gogh using your instincts or you can buy a Van Gogh by the numbers. That’s also probably why I’m kinda scared of baking coz I think it was Wolfgang Puck who said that baking is like architecture, if you’re measurements are wrong then the building comes crumbling down. I’m not an architect, I’m an engineer and Jorey always told me engineers make good estimates.
So there, I’m probably still going to blog about my recipes but I’m giving the disclaimer that you should follow at your own risk hehe.
