I got a new haircut!
Before / After

My last haircut, though ok, was really not me (or maybe it was me but there’s something about it I didn’t like). I had it done at Quest Salon in Raffles City. I admit i didn’t bring a picture of what I wanted but I could hardly understand the stylist anyway and vice versa. I basically picked it because it was near the hotel, and it was more expensive than the other salon in the mall. So I thought it would be similar to Emphasis in Manila.
But I don’t blame the stylist. We were both strangers to each other and my hair’s not exactly easy to work with. I think that you and your stylist should be able to develop a relationship where he/she knows your style and how your hair works. I have one in Manila - Ryan. Whenever I’d visit the salon, all I needed to say was either I needed a haircut, a treatment, or a color retouch. I didn’t have to get into the specifics. He either suggests a style that would suit me, decides what treatment my hair needs, or goes ahead and cooks up some color for my hair. I never know what color my hair’s going to turn out but I always like it.
So yesterday, we were at Raffles City again doing some window shopping and we happened to pass by the other salon there - The Scene. This time I had a printout of what I wanted. So on impulse (I should really avoid having a haircut on impulse) I went in and had a haircut. The stylist - Lawrence cuts hair dry. He told me he learned this technique from a Japanese stylist. If you think about it, for hair that looks different when wet and dry like mine, it makes sense to cut it dry so he can see where my natural waves are. I like him better coz he talks more. He told me how to maintain the hairstyle and how I should shampoo it and stuff. That’s how hairstylists should be - otherwise I’d just go to a barber.
In the end, I like my new cut better. It doesn’t look exactly like Milla’s but we have different hair types and different face shapes so though I was hoping for some miracle, I wasn’t expecting it to be exactly the same.

i like the new-new hair! I agree, the new-new hair’s better than the new haircut. Gusto ko na tuloy pumunta sa Green bldg here in Makati, yung nagha-haircut na Jap style. JoQ says it’s like P1,000 per haircut though, sulit kaya?
